La Crosse 303d Stream Monitoring 2012 - WCR_10_CMP13

Purpose

La Crosse proposes to monitor 5 streams in 2012 that are currently on the 303d list. Data collection will include fish and qualitative habitat surveys, macroinvertebrate samples and continuous temperature monitoring. The streams to be monitored include Long Coulee Creek, Johnson Coulee Creek and Adams Creek in La Crosse County, Halls Branch located in northern Crawford County and Prince (Printz) Creek located in northwest Monroe County. All five of the above the mentioned streams are on the impaired waters list for degraded habitat.

Objective

This project supports the impaired waters project category. Monitoring on the existing 303d waters will validate and improve the existing listings. The surveys will help define the current condition of the streams and extent of degraded habitat. The streams to be monitored include Long Coulee Creek (1676100), Johnson Coulee Creek (1676400) and Adams Creek (1653700) in La Crosse County, Halls Branch (1184300) located in northern Crawford County and Prince or Printz Creek (1693100) located in northwest Monroe County. Fish and qualitative habitat surveys, macroinvertebrate sampling and continuous temperature sampling will be completed at 13 TBD sites on five existing 303d listed streams.

Outcome

Fish and qualitative habitat surveys, macroinvertebrate sampling and continuous temperature sampling will be completed at 13 TBD sites on five existing 303d listed streams. These streams are lacking recent information.
