High-Fishtrap-Rush Lakes Association is sponsoring phased large scale lake planning grants to study High-Fishtrap-Rush Lakes, in Vilas County. The project will focus on developing a Lake Management Plan (LMP) for High-Fishtrap-Rush Lakes. Phase 2 will be submitted for funding during the Feb 1, 2013 grant cycle. Phase 1 project activities include: 1) Gather and assess existing High-Fishtrap-Rush Lakes information; 2) Volunteer frog and toad monitoring and angler\2019s journal program; 3) PI aquatic plant survey, community and substrate mapping and analysis; 4) Watershed assessment and water quality sampling; 5) Lake stage, discharge and retention time assessment; 6) Rare species assessment; 7) Educational program \2013 stakeholder survey, meetings, newsletter articles, and press releases; 8) Watercraft inspections. Project deliverables include: 1) PI, stakeholder survey, water quality, rare species, frog and toad, angler\2019s journal, lake stage, discharge, retention, and watershed data; 2) Aquatic plant community and substrate maps; 3) Entered inspection data into SWIMS; 4) Aquatic plant vouchers; 5) Education materials.
