UPPER SUGAR RIVER WATERSHED ASSOCIATION: AIS Boots-on-the-Ground South
Friends of the Upper Sugar River Watershed will build partnerships and provide AIS education, prevention and control services in the 4-county area (Crawford, Richland, Sauk and Vernon counties) (LaCrosse County is covered by River Alliance of WI) and act as the AIS rapid response liaison with DNR.
Project final deliverables include: New AIS specimens vouchered according to DNR protocol; all data collected entered into DNR\2019s SWIMs database; final report documenting achievement of each activity, dates, meeting minutes and number of attendees from training events, # signs posted, documentation of location where boot cleaning stations installed.
Specific project activities include: Train volunteers on Project Red, Host Weed ID Workshop, and take part in statewide AIS campaigns like CBCW, etc; provide training to local government professionals and commercial businesses on topics like bmps for mowing and road construction, and native versus exotic plants; implement water garden AIS awareness campaign; monitor, voucher and report AIS and implement control especially in the West Fork Kickapoo river corridor; install signs and boot brush stations

If consultant is to provide a final report, it is recommended that Grantee provide DNR Lakes Coordinator with a draft for comment on report adequacy prior to making final payment to the consultant. Data, records, and reports, including GIS-based maps, and digital images, must be submitted to the department in electronic format to the regional Lakes Coordinator along with, or prior to, submission of grantee\2019s final payment request.
