NORTH LAKE MANAGEMENT DISTRICT: Grant C: Wave Propagation Differences Among Powered Vessels

The North Lake Management District is sponsoring a project to study the impact of boat wake propagation (amplitude, frequency and origin) on shorelines and lake sediment.

Project final deliverables include: a whitepaper research report, and excel spreadsheets containing all data collected for the study.

Specific project activities include: A report that includes 1) an analysis of the difference in wave impacts based on type of boat; 2) a developed methodology for analyzing wave impacts on lake shorelines, lake sediment, water quality and vegetative communities; 3) an outline of proposed local protective ordinances to address human induced wave impacts; and 4) presentation of the results in a minimum of two public meetings.

Special Conditions: 1) All data shall be entered into the SWIMS database.

This scope summarizes the project detail provided in the application and does not negate tasks/deliverables described therein. Data, records, and reports, including GIS-based maps, and digital images, must be submitted to the Department in a format specified by the regional Lake Biologist.

If consultant is to provide final report, it is recommended that Grantee provide DNR Lake Coordinator with a draft for comment on report adequacy prior to making final payment to the consultant. DNR to receive both paper and electronic .pdf copies of the final report along with, or prior to submission of grantee's final payment request.
