TOWN OF LAC DU FLAMBEAU: AIS Boat Inspection, Education, & Lake Monitoring

Purpose

The Town of Lac du Flambeau is sponsoring an Aquatic Invasive Species Education, Prevention & Planning project which will focus on preventing AIS introductions into town lakes, monitoring for AIS and providing AIS education. Project activities include: 1) Recruit volunteers and implement a CB/CW program at 7 high use landings within township from May-September 2006 2) Hire an AIS Coordinator (duties include training volunteers, landing inspections, AIS monitoring, and entry of inspection forms) 3) Deliver suspect AIS to WDNR 4) Entry of inspection forms 3200-120 onto Dept website by Coordinator 5) Publicize outcome of grant in local media 6) Conduct in-water AIS monitoring 7) Develop AIS information packet and brochure 8) Participate in Lac du Flambeau Lake Fest 9) Install AIS signage/kiosks Project deliverables include: - Completed entry of inspection forms 3200-120 onto Dept website - Local media articles/media releases - Position description for AIS Coordinator - AIS information packet, brochure, and signage - Final report (contents listed on pg 10 of proposal) Specific conditions for this project: - A minimum of 1200 boat landing inspection hours are needed for this project - Final report needs Dept review and approval WDNR Lakes Management Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) and hard copy of final report including the deliverables listed above.
