TOWN OF LAC DU FLAMBEAU: AIS Watercraft Inspection, Education, & Lake Monitoring Project

Purpose

The Town of Lac du Flambeau is sponsoring an Aquatic Invasive Species Education, Prevention & Planning grant to be completed by December 31, 2007. The project will focus on AIS education, prevention, monitoring, and management. Project activities include: 1) Recruit volunteers and implement a Clean Boat/Clean Water program at town landings 2) Hire 2 AIS coordinators 3) Conduct AIS citizen lake monitoring following Dept/UW Ext guidelines 4) Entry of inspection forms 3200-120 and monitoring forms onto Dept website 5) Create a Town Lakes Committee website 6) Conduct AIS educational & outreach activities as listed in Objectives C and D of proposal (page 8) 7) Provide learning experiences on managing purple loosestrife and rusty crayfish Project deliverables include: 1) Completed entry of inspection 3200-120 and monitoring forms onto Dept website 2) Town Lakes Committee website 3) AIS educational and outreach activities/products 4) Final report summarizing CB/CW activities, AIS monitoring, and management of AIS Specific Conditions for this project: - Final report needs Dept review and approval WDNR Lakes Management Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) and hard copy of final report and samples of educational and outreach products.
