TOWN OF GIBRALTAR: Restoring Fish Passage to Fish Creek at the Hwy 42 Culvert

Purpose

The Town of Gibraltar is sponsoring a project to install fish passage improvements past the box culvert at State Highway 42 on Fish Creek in Door County. Project final deliverables include: all design plans, an installed fish ladder and baffles and a final report summarizing the project. Specific project activities include: 1) Installation of a fish ladder to the apron of the culvert at STH 42 on Fish Creek which will allow fish easier access to the culvert; 2) Installation of baffles inside the culvert which will help concentrate the water flow during times of low water and also provide a place for the fish to get out of the current and rest when needed; 2) Coordination with agencies such as WisDOT, WDNR, US Army Corps of Engineers (USACOA), and US Fish & Wildlife Service as identified in the selected design from Miller Engineers Scientists; 4) Hold at least one public meeting regarding this project; and 5) Summarize the project in a final report. Special Conditions: 1) Prior to construction, the Town will obtain all requisite landowner access and permits as required from WDNR, the USACOE, Door County, and other regulatory agencies or municipalities. This scope summarizes the project detail provided in the application and does not negate tasks/deliverables described therein. Data, records, and reports, including GIS-based maps, and digital images, must be submitted to the Department in a format specified by the regional Rivers Biologist. If consultant is to provide final report, it is recommended that Grantee provide DNR Rivers Coordinator with a draft for comment on report adequacy prior to making final payment to the consultant. DNR to receive both paper and electronic .pdf copies of the final report along with, or prior to submission of grantee's final payment request.
