Purpose

Kenosha County is undertaking a project within Petrifying Springs Park to improve aquatic habitat and reduce erosion in the Pike River through installation of instream structures and conducting riparian and contributing upland erosion control seeding. Project final deliverables include: Printed and digital copy of a project summary report. Report shall include a summary of all activities conducted under this grant. Specific project activities include: 1) Obtain relevant local, County, State, and Federal permits as required, and employ an independent construction manager to ensure adherence to all permit conditions. 2) Within the 4.83-acre site, per the Application and following appropriate BMPs, conduct brush and tree clearing, herbicide application, and site stabilization seeding. 3) Plant 6.89 acres of annual cover crop. 4.) Within the project area, install 130 ft. of wood toe protection, 200 tons of backfill, 4 step pools, and 4 log vanes. 5) plant 4.83 acres of native vegetation as final stabilization, including native woody shrub species. 6) Submittal of a minimum of 2 progress reports to WDNR detailing pre and post activity photos, wq data collected to date, and summary of press releases/public outreach. Special Conditions: Along with the project report, include a summary of an outreach/educational activities conducted for the project. This scope summarizes the project detail provided in the application and does not negate tasks/deliverables described therein. Records, reports, and digital images must be submitted to the Department in a format specified by the regional River Coordinator. If a consultant is to provide final report, it is recommended that Grantee provide DNR Rivers Coordinator with a draft for comment on report adequacy prior to making final payment to the consultant. DNR to receive both paper and electronic .pdf copies of the final report along with, or prior to submission of grantee's final payment request.
