City Of Kenosha: Peorio Park Pond Red Swamp Crayfish Monitoring: This project will assist in multiple ways 1) Research - When do the crayfish become active enough for successful treatment, have they become established in nearby pond and an unnamed tributary of the Pike River, once chemically treated did any survive the treatment. 2) Evaluation- 20 baited traps will be set in Peorio , 15 in the two ponds north of infested pond, 10 traps in the unnamed tributary. 3) Treatment plan. Chemical treatment of the pond and burrows, timing will take place when trapping determines activity. DNR fisheries staff will do the treatment. 4) Monitoring Plan- partnering with DNR, City of Kenosha (Parks Commission) and UW-Parkside to do daily check and removal and care of live crayfish to be used for testing during the chemical treatment.

Mt. Pleasant Storm Water Utility District: Pike River - Glyceria Maxima Experiment: The Village of Mount Pleasant will hire two contractors to conduct an experiment regarding the chemical treatment of Glyceria maxima along the Pike River. 21 subplots measuring 2 meter by 5 meter will be studied. The study will be conducted in 2011 and 2012. Two chemicals (Aquaneat and Habitat) will be studied. Three treatment applications (spring only, late summer only, and a combined spring/late summer) will be studied as well. The project deliverable will be a report that details the following: 1) a determination of the most effective herbicide and application method to be used in this local area; 2) % cover before and after treatment for each subplot; 3) photo essay showing before, during and after treatment for the different subplots; 4) a copy of the power point presentation that will be given by the contractors at the 2012 Wisconsin Wetlands Association conference; 5) maps of any identified satellite populations.
Two paper copies and one electronic copy of the final plan will be provided to the department. Exact details for all deliverables are described in the project description of grant application.

Root-Pike Watershed Initiative Network: Pike River Watershed Restoration Planning: Root Pike WIN is proposing the development of a watershed protection plan for the Pike River. The purpose is to improve the water quality and biological integrity of the watershed. Phase 1 involves recruiting and developing a stakeholders group. This group will attend six (6) educational meetings throughout the year to learn about watershed topics relating to pollution, flooding improvement opportunities, etc.
Phase 2 will include stakeholders will work with a consultant to develop the Pike River Watershed Restoration Plan. Public information and education will be a big part of this project, including the development of a web site. The watershed protection plan and other material will be shared with local and state agencies to assist in the development and implementation of best management practices.
The strategic plan will be included with the final project report to the WDNR. Total project costs are $105,000 which includes a $10,000 grant award from the WDNR.

Root-Pike Watershed Initiative Network: Pike River Watershed Restoration Planning: The Root-Pike Watershed Initiative Network will contract with a qualified Planning Firm who will work with the Stakeholders to develop an updated Pike River Watershed Restoration Plan. The Restoration Plan will include: 1) Identification of goals and objectives: meeting with stakeholders to refine goals and objectives, review drafts of management plan. 2) Natural resource assessment in the watershed: collect existing watershed data, assess current watershed and wetland conditions, examine open space planning, and develop GIS inventory of the watershed resources. 3) Water quality assessment: compile existing data, collect additional data such as locations of severely eroded stream banks and shorelines, use GIS to estimate pollutant load reductions using BMPs. 4) Prioritized action plan with cost estimates: Identify stakeholder roles and responsibilities, programmatic actions, and site-specific actions. Prioritized action plan with dates, an estimate of financial and technical assistance needs and identification of implementation responsibility and cost. 5) Final assessment and Plan Report.
Hold six scheduled meetings between the Planning Firm and Stakeholders Group with a Technical Advisory Group to learn about plan progress and provide input. The public will be invited to attend these meetings, and will be able to submit written questions and comments. The deliverables will include agendas for each meeting, minutes from each meeting, and a listing of the people who attended each meeting.
Hold Pike River Summit II in September 2013 that will feature the first public presentation of the Plan. Workshop sessions will feature the Watershed Action Teams who will discuss their role in Phase III to implement restoration projects, and presentations by federal, state and local funders on grant opportunities for river restoration projects.

Kenosha County: 319-Petrifying Springs Park Pike River Restoration (Phase Ii): Kenosha County is undertaking a project within Petrifying Springs Park to improve aquatic habitat and reduce erosion in the Pike River through installation of instream structures and conducting riparian and contributing upland erosion control seeding.
Project final deliverables include: Printed and digital copy of a project summary report. Report shall include a summary of all activities conducted under this grant.
Specific project activities include: 1) Obtain relevant local, County, State, and Federal permits as required, and employ an independent construction manager to ensure adherence to all permit conditions. 2) Within the 4.83-acre site, per the Application and following appropriate BMPs, conduct brush and tree clearing, herbicide application, and site stabilization seeding. 3) Plant 6.89 acres of annual cover crop. 4.) Within the project area, install 130 ft. of wood toe protection, 200 tons of backfill, 4 step pools, and 4 log vanes. 5) plant 4.83 acres of native vegetation as final stabilization, including native woody shrub species. 6) Submittal of a minimum of 2 progress reports to WDNR detailing pre and post activity photos, wq data collected to date, and summary of press releases/public outreach.
Special Conditions: Along with the project report, include a summary of an outreach/educational activities conducted for the project.

Hyslop Foundation, Inc: (319) Hawthorn Hollow Tractor Road Storm Water Diversion Project: The Hyslop Foundation, Inc. will, through contractors and their own activities repair and re-grade the approximately 540 feet long \2018Tractor Road\2019 located in the Hawthorn Hollow Nature Sanctuary and Arboretum. Associated with this activity, they will install a storm water treatment swale adjacent to the Tractor Road, install two foot-bridges over the swale, and initiate and finalize associated hardscaping and landscaping necessary to restore and stabilize the construction site. All of the aforementioned activities will be completed by November 15th, 2016, with a final written or electronic report on the project delivered to DNR by December 31st, 2016. Additionally, a video documentary of the road and swale construction, with visualization of before and after performance, will be filmed. A copy of the video, along with written documentation of associated outreach activities, will be provided to the DNR on or before June 15th, 2017.
Project deliverables include: 1.) A re-graded Tractor Road per R.A. Smith National\2019s December 31st, 2015 plan. 2.) A constructed storm water swale per R.A. Smith National\2019s December 31st, 2015 plan. 3.) Two foot-bridge crossings of the newly constructed swale. 4.) Project landscaping and site stabilization. 5.) A final written or electronic project report provided to DNR; and 6.) A video documenting the project, with written documentation of outreach activities, provided to DNR.

Root-Pike Watershed Initiative Network: Res - Neumiller Woods Wetland Improvements: Phase Two: Root-Pike Watershed Initiative Network is sponsoring a project to create a .61 acre wetland scrape at Neumiller Woods, seeking to improve diversity of 2 acres of upland vegetation to amplify the pollutant processing abilities of the native landscape. Funding from the Surface Water Program will support maintenance and proper establishment of native vegetation.
Activities: Overall, the goal is to conduct three years of initial post-installation maintenance to ensure native vegetation installed in wetland scrapes and upland areas establishes properly. Grant RM10724 funds will support Year 1 maintenance activities utilizing NRCS Standard 659.
Deliverables: 1) A written summary of activities conducted under this grant, delivered in electronic format and including restoration photographs.
