KENOSHA COUNTY: LCO-Lake Classification Program

Purpose

Kenosha County proposes to inventory current conditions within the major named lakes in the County and produce a scientific and technical basis to support refinements to the ordinance amendments to be undertaken in response to the requirements of Chapter NR 115, Wisconsin Administrative Code. Project deliverables include: 1) Updates of DNR Lake Use Reports with refined data and map contours 2) An updating of the WDNR Surface Water Information Management System (SWIMS) database with citizen lake monitoring network (CLMN) and USGS TSI monitoring data. 3) A report summarizing lands requiring protection, and refinement of lake and water use objectives based on the review and identification of environmentally critical areas in the lakes and lake water quality and use problems. 4) Recommended refinements to the County shoreland zoning code of ordinances based on knowledge gained from this project. 5) Any GIS maps of the shoreland zone or shoreland condition surveys related to this project. 6) Copies of any fact sheets or handouts created for public meetings. 7) A summary of the comments received at public information meetings. Specific conditions for this Project: The WDNR will be provided electronic and hard copies of all data and or reports or surveys generated as a result of this project. The WDNR will be provided a draft copy for comments before the project is finalized.
