WASHBURN COUNTY LWCD: Washburn County AIS Strategic Plan Implementation 2009-2012

Purpose

Washburn County is sponsoring a three-year countywide AIS project and position to implement their AIS Strategic Plan. The Plan details specific activities for each of the goals: education, prevention, monitoring, control, legislative support, and capacity building. Note: this project was not funded in whole and may need to apply for future grants to achieve the activities and deliverables described in this scope. Future deliverables associated with this project include: 1) A project report/assessment of Plan implementation activities and data collected, including the information in 2-8; 2) Examples of any educational/outreach materials developed, including newsletters, media articles, marketing tools, school curricula, etc. and mass media campaign results; 3) Clean Boats Clean Waters program support and implementation at AIS-populated lakes; 4) AIS signage inventory update; 5) AIS inventory (species, GPS locations, estimated infestation size), maps, and survey results; 6) Results of county department AIS trainings and monitoring protocols; 7) Updated website that integrates AIS management information; 8) Summary of legislative communication tools; 9) County-wide resource list, including lake contacts, monitors, volunteers, presentations, etc. The interim deliverable for the work completed in spring-summer 2009 will be a project progress report. Special Conditions: 1) The Department may provide standardized methods for AIS monitoring; 2) Data, records, and reports, including GIS-based maps and digital images, must be submitted to the Department in a format specified by the regional Lake Coordinator. This scope is intended to summarize the detailed scope/activities provided in the grant application and Washburn County AIS Plan and does not supersede grant application and Plan specifics.
