Purpose
The Dane County Land and Water Resources Department is sponsoring a project to update the Aquatic Plant Management (APM) Plan for Lake Mendota.
Project final deliverables include:
1. Complete PI survey using WDNR approved protocol, send raw data to WDNR Regional Lakes Coordinator, and upload to SWIMS database. Any plants not observed historically will be pressed and sent the herbarium.
2. Update existing APM plan utilizing data collected in 2023 PI survey and upload to Dane County Website. An electronic copy of the updated plan must be sent to the WDNR Regional Lakes Coordinator.
3. Meeting minutes and number of participants for the public informational meeting must be sent to the WDNR Regional Lakes Coordinator.
Specific project activities include:
Complete PI survey using WDNR approved protocol, update existing APM plan, and conduct public informational meeting
Special Conditions:
If a survey is used in the public informational meeting survey questions used in public meetings must be approved by WDNR social scientist. Final report and data collected shall be uploaded to SWIMS database and an electronic sent to the WDNR Regional Lakes Coordinator (arthur.watkinson@wisconsin.gov). The aquatic plant survey must follow the WDNR protocol (PUB-SS-1068 2010).
This scope summarizes the project detail provided in the application and does not negate tasks/deliverables described therein. Data, records, and reports, including GIS-based maps, and digital images, must be submitted to the Department in a format specified by the regional Lake Biologist.
