Purpose
The Town of Lac du Flambeau is sponsoring an AIS EPP grant partnering with the Town of Manitowish Waters, Lac du Flambeau Band of Chippewa Indians, Manitowish Waters Lakes Association, and Discovery Center. The project will focus on AIS education, prevention, monitoring, and management within the Lac du Flambeau and Manitowish Waters Townships in Vilas County.
Project activities include: 1) Recruit volunteers and implement a CB/CW program at town landings; 2)Hire 2 AIS coordinators; 3) Conduct volunteer AIS lake and scuba diving boat landing monitoring; 4) Conduct PI aquatic plant surveys on Squaw and Crawling Stone Lakes; 5) Entry of inspection Forms 3200-120 and monitoring Forms 3200-124 and/or 3200-130 onto Dept website; 6) Conduct AIS educational and communication activities as listed in Goal 1, obj\2019s 1 and 4 of proposal; 7) Develop action plan to manage purple loosestrife (PL); 8) Develop a Manitowish Waters Town AIS Strategic Plan.
Project deliverables include: 1)Completed entry of inspection Forms 3200-120 and monitoring Forms 3200-124 onto Dept website; 2) 2 AIS coordinators; 3) PL action plan and Manitowish Waters Strategic Plan; 4) AIS educational and communication activities/products; 5) Final report summarizing CB/CW activities, AIS monitoring, management of AIS, and all other project activities.
Specific Conditions for this project: Community survey and final report need Dept review and approval
WDNR Lakes Management Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) and hard copy of final report, strategic plan, purple loosestrife action plan, and samples of educational and outreach products.
