CEDAR GROVE - BELGIUM SCHOOL DISTRICT: RES - Cedar Grove-Belgium School District Ecosystem Restoration

Purpose

The Cedar Grove-Belgium School District is sponsoring a project to convert approx. 28 acres of agricultural land to perennial cover, mostly comprised of native prairie, wet meadow and upland forest. Activities: 1) Utilizing NRCS restoration practices, complete final design and obtain required local, state, and federal permits. 2) Under appropriate permits and following final design, conduct wetland scrape and upland grading. 3) Per application and following NRCS practices, establish native prairie and wetland plantings. 4) Develop maintenance and monitoring plan. 5) Conduct management actions necessary to ensure native vegetation establishment. 6) Per application, conduct Outreach and Education activities. Deliverables: 1) Final design plan. 2) Wetland scrape and prairie creation. 3) Maintenance and monitoring plan. 4) Submit Final Report summarizing activities conducted under this grant. Conditions: 1) Final design shall follow NRCS design standards. 2) Buffer restoration shall follow Wisconsin Biology Technical Note 1: Shoreland Habitat. 3) Prairie restoration shall follow NRCS technical guide wildlife planting standard 420 and tree/shrub establishment standard 612. 4) Submit Maintenance & Monitoring Plan to WDNR for review. 5) Provide to the Department in electronic form a Final Report, being a written summary and providing supporting information regarding deliverables and outcomes as described in Application. It is recommended that a draft be shared with the Department prior to final submittal. This scope summarizes details provided in the application and does not negate tasks and/or deliverables described therein. Data, reports, surveys, and supporting information, including photos, maps and GIS data, must be submitted to the DNR Biologist in electronic format and in any other format they specify.
