CITY OF MADISON: Watercraft Decontamination System (WDS). A hot water high pressure system for managing AIS

Purpose

The City of Madison Parks Department is sponsoring a project to design, install, and implement Watercraft Decontamination System (\201CWDS\201D) to prevent the spread of Aquatic Invasive Species to or from Lake Mendota at the Marshall Park Boat Landing on Lake Mendota. Activities: 1) Design WDS 2) Install WDS 3) Develop safety protocols, training manual, and maintenance schedule for staff 4) Train staff on use of WDS 5) Create tutorials on how to use WDS for public 6) Communications about WDS and aquatic invasive species prevention Deliverables: 1) Final design for WDS 2) Progress and completion photographs of WDS 3) Copies of safety protocols, training manual, and maintenance schedule 4) Dates and attendance record of staff training 5) Copies or links to public tutorials 6) Records of communications about WDS system and aquatic invasive species prevention 7) Final summary report Conditions: 1) Complete any required local permitting prior to station installation. 2) Final signage and WDS designs must be reviewed and approved by the DNR Biologist prior to installation. Data, reports, surveys, and supporting information, including photos, maps and GIS data, must be submitted to the DNR Biologist in electronic format and in any other format they specify.
