TOWN OF PRESQUE ISLE: Presque Isle Wilderness Waters Program
The Town of Presque Isle is sponsoring a project to study 14 lakes in the Town focusing on developing a Lake Management Plan (LMP) for each of the project lakes and a town-wide management plan.
Project activities include: 1) Gather and review existing lake data for study lakes; 2) Public I&E AIS identification and monitoring training, project meetings, lake-user survey, news release(s), and hand-outs; 3) Water quality sampling and analysis (Secchi, P, Chla, DO, temp, N, and calcium); 4) Point-intercept (PI) aquatic plant survey and analysis; 5) Watershed assessment; 6) CB/CW, volunteer AIS monitoring, development of lake ordinances, and AIS education programs (childrens story hour, fishing tournaments and country fair); 7) Prepare a catalogue of Presque Isle water-related environmental, cultural, and aesthetic attributes; 8) Develop individual LMPs and Town LMP.
