VILAS COUNTY: Vilas County Lakes Eurasian Watermilfoil Monitoring

Purpose

Vilas County proposes to perform the following Eurasian Watermilfoil monitoring and prevention activities: 1)Conduct at least two volunteer training workshops on Eurasian monitoring, provide list of the trained volunteers; 2) conduct a spot check of the county's 196 public boat landings for the presence of Eurasian watermilfoil; develop a list of lakes where is it present; 3) input volunteer Eurasian watermilfoil monitoring data and boat landing spot check data into the county lake GIS database, produce GIS map printout illustrating volunteer monitors location and Eurasian watermilfoil's presence; 4) place Eurasian watermilfoil alert signs at the county's 196 public boat landings; 5) develop one model exotic species prevention sign at a key boat landing; 6) develop a traveling display exhibit focusing on prevention and monitoring, use at the Northwoods Lake Fair; and 7) assist with the development of one or more additional lake organizations in the county.
