This project is a three-year effort that will develop new voluntary conservation options for shoreland properties. These options include conservation easement, land donation, land registry and conservation buyer programs. The project will include establishing the legal, technical and procedural requirements for implementing these programs in Vilas County. It will also include a public education campaign.
Deliverables include:
1. Information packets on options for landowners
2. PowerPoint explaining options
3. GIS data on shoreland properties, maps of parcels greater than 500 feet as target properties.
4. A conservation Plan and needs assessment including lands critical to endangered/threatened species, wild lakes, land on ERW and ORW waters, and critical shorelands.
5. Newspaper articles, press releases, public service announcements.
6. Educational web site and email response system to respond to public campaign
7. Informational fact sheets (localized) on each program option.
The DNR will be provided with both a paper copy and an electronic copy of the final report. Information will be disseminated to the public as described in the grant application.
