BAYFIELD COUNTY: LCO-Hydrological Atlas of Bayfield County & Interactive Map

Purpose

Bayfield County is sponsoring a project to develop an online and interactive Hydrogeologic Atlas, including funding an expert to assist in developing this tool. Deliverables include: brief report describing the methods and data used to compile the Atlas; database of well records and well characteristics (information fields to be determined with input from Bayfield County personnel and Hydrogeologist); county-wide maps of depth to bedrock, water table elevation, recharge rates, and groundwater susceptibility; and a summary of education and outreach efforts, including any policy or ordinances changes that resulted, to share project progress and the map itself. Deliverables should include GIS shape or layer files created as part of the project. The specific objectives, metrics, and deliverables for the listed activities are included in the application and supporting materials, and this scope is not intended to replace or supersede those documents.

Reports and Documents
Brief final report summarizing activities as part of the grant. Includes timeline of activities, names of group members, meeting dates, links to project deliverables, and conclusions of the Hydro Atlas report.
This report provides information about well construction, groundwater flow, and resulting implications for well susceptibility in Bayfield County, Wisconsin. The project deliverables include a countywide water-table map and water well database. These are the first two elements of a proposed Hydrogeologic Atlas, an inventory and analysis of groundwater conditions in Bayfield County. The work reported here follows recommendations from a groundwater study in 2015 that focused on two agricultural areas within Bayfield County (Gotkowitz and Li, 2016).
