TOWN OF LAC DU FLAMBEAU: AIS Watercraft Inspection, Education & Lake Monitoring

Purpose

The Town of Lac du Flambeau is sponsoring an AIS project to be completed by December 31, 2008. The project will focus on AIS education, prevention, monitoring, and management. Project activities include: 1) Recruit volunteers and implement a CB/CW program at town landings; 2) Hire 3 AIS coordinators; 3) Conduct AIS citizen lake monitoring following Dept/UW Ext guidelines; 4) Entry of inspection Forms 3200-120 and monitoring Forms 3200-124 and/or 3200-130 onto Dept website; 5) Conduct AIS educational and outreach activities as listed in Goal 1 of proposal (pages 6-10); 6) Provide learning experiences on managing purple loosestrife; 7) Prepare a long-term plan for AIS, including creating/conducting a survey of lake users. Project deliverables include: 1) Completed entry of inspection Forms 3200-120 and monitoring Forms 3200-124 onto Dept website; 2) AIS educational and outreach activities/products; 3) Copy of public survey and results; 4) First draft of long-term plan; 5) Final report summarizing CB/CW activities, AIS monitoring, and management of AIS. Specific Conditions for this project: Final report needs Dept review and approval. WDNR Lakes Management Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) and hard copy of final report and samples of educational and outreach products.
