Phase I of the Hoard-Curtis Scout Camp’s lakeshore restoration started on September 7, 2010, and was completed on October 5, 2010. This phase entailed protecting 870 feet of eroding shoreline through the installation of rock riprap. Phases II - IV of the Hoard-Curtis Scout Camp’s lakeshore restoration started in October of 2010, and wrapped up in November of 2011. These phases included invasive brush removal, tree thinning, inter-seeding spreading, erosion matting, aquatic emergent shoreline plantings, and public outreach.

Lake Ripley Management District proposes to undertake a shoreline stabilization and restoration project at the Hoard-Curtis Scout Camp shoreline on Lake Ripley, Jefferson County. They will install riprap off-shore of the existing shoreline (DNR permit already issued), plant aquatic plants inland of that riprap, and do upland seeding (to supplement previously completed plug plantings) after invasive weed and brush removal.
