Waushara County is continuing their county-wide study of 33 lakes. Grants 5 and 6 will complete the field work, data analysis and reports necessary to complete Phase 2 of this project. For purposes of products and deliverables the 33 lakes were split such that Grant 5 covers 16 lakes and Grant 6 covers all the work for 17 lakes.
The following work activities will be completed for 17 Waushara County lakes: 1. Paleo-limno core sampling (2 lakes \2013 9 total for project), 2. Lake Modeling (WILMS \2013 16 lakes), 3. Plant point intercept sampling, sensitive habitat mapping, 4. Newspaper and media outreach (2-5 efforts), 5. Public Meetings (2-4 meetings), The following deliverables (products) will result from Grant 6 (17 lakes): 1. A summary document for the entire county (State of the Lakes \2013 Report). Comparison of lakes will be made related to water quality, shoreline development, plant community. 2. Final reports for lakes based on lake type. This will be split as follows: Reservoirs, seepage, drainage and groundwater drainage. These final reports will provide results of the work activities detailed in the proceeding section and also comply with stated deliverables/outcomes in the grant application. 3. A summary report for each individual lake will also be completed. This report will succinctly summarize the important lake specific information determined via the study. Lake specific management recommendations will be clearly stated. 4. A final hard copy and digital copy of all reports will be given to the DNR Lake Coordinator responsible for administering this grant.
