LANGLADE COUNTY: RES-County Partnership for Shoreland Protection & Restoration

Purpose

Lincoln County, in cooperation with project sponsor Langlade County, is sponsoring a project which will focus on restoring shorelines on private riparian lots in Lincoln and Langlade counties. A demonstration site will also be restored on Lake Mohawksin (SARA Park). Project activities include: 1) Hire Shore land Protection Specialist; 2) Provide technical assistance and education to property owners for the development of voluntary shore land restoration plans; 3) Provide financial assistance/incentives for voluntary shore land restorations; 4) Monitor shore land restoration sites and recommend supplemental plantings when needed; 5) Continue to use GIS layer to track shore land restoration sites and update web page; 6) Provide educational opportunities and materials to lake associations and the public that promote shore land restoration and protection efforts; 7) Shore land restoration demonstration site on Lake Mohawksin (SARA Park). Project deliverables include: 1) Shore land Protection Specialist 2) 12 voluntary restorations; 3) Assist approximately 50 shore land restorations per year; 4) Monitor past restorations and improve when needed approximately 50 sites in Lincoln County and approximately 100 sites in Langlade County; 5) Updated county web pages and GIS shore land restoration layer; 6) Samples of educational materials and listing of I&E activities; 7) Establish a county wide plant sale; 8) Copy of poster displayed at WI Lakes Convention; 9) Final report summarizing all of the above listed activities. Specific Conditions for this project: Final report needs Dept review and approval. WDNR Lakes Management Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) and hard copy of final report and samples of shore land educational materials.
