CITY OF MIDDLETON: LMI-Pheasant Branch Watershed - In Lake Mendota Priority Watersh

Purpose

The City of Middleton will contract with the U.S. Geological Survey to monitor and model the surface and groundwater flow within a portion of the Pheasant Branch watershed to locate effective combination of storm water treatment and control sites within the North Fork to mitigate the impacts of urbanization on the quality and quantity of water reaching Lake Mendota. Activities of the project include developing a surface and groundwater model based on existing data, collecting various field data for model inputs (including monitoring precipitation and flow discharge) refine the model and calibrate it to field measurements, calculate present and future pollution loads, and conduct analyses to accomplish the project objectives. Deliverables include: a report summarizing the project work, results and recommendations, maps showing recharge areas, hydrologfical sensitive sites, and the final calibrated computer model.
