Village Of Belleville: Ais Edr For Carp: The Village of Belleville proposes to recover the recent restoration of Lake Belleview by quickly controlling a successful year class of remnant carp in the fall of 2013. This will allow the stocked, native fish to suppress any remaining carp, and protect and improve the plant diversity and overall health of the lake. A contractor will seine the carp from the lake, donating the fish to interest groups, and disposing of any remaining fish (2014). Carp fishing contests were held as part of the Annual Lakefest in 2014 and 2015 for both education/outreach and collection of carp populations size structure. Water quality monitoring will document the success of this carp removal project in 2014 and 2015. Due to project amendment, some of the preceding activities only take place in 2014, and the following activities are added for 2016 and beyond: Construction of two carp weir traps, stocking of channel catfish for biomanipulation of the carp. As part of the partnership effort for this project, the DNR will conduct a carp population estimate in spring 2016.

River Alliance Of Wisconsin: Gambusia Infestation- Sugar River: The River Alliance of Wisconsin intends to test a technique to mechanically remove as many exotic Gambusia (mosquitofish) as possible from the slough where their population expanded this past summer. The goals of the project are to test this method of sequentially blocking sections of the slough from the mouth to the top, shocking, collecting, and netting, in a repeated fashion), and actually removing as many of these destructive fishes as possible in order to create a more favorable habitat for the return of the native topminnows. Without this action, the return of the native species would highly improbable after this drought year, which dried up most of their habitat in this and other river systems. Final results will be presented to DNR in a report, and via poster at the UW-Platteville poster day by another partner in the project from the UW.

Dane County: Aquatic Mgmt Plan Amendment: Dane County Office of Lakes and Watersheds will update Aquatic Plant Management (APM) Plans on the following lakes: Crystal, Fish, Indian, Lower Mud, Upper Mud, and the Yahara River between Lakes Monona and Kegonsa. All these waters are sources of established populations of Eurasian watermilfoil, among other exotics, and are managed via county harvesting operations. In addition, the new Lake Belle View may require harvesting, so a new APM plan will be developed for that lake. Updated monitoring and amended plans are recommended by DNR for the other waters. A consultant will use established point intercept maps to survey current plant populations, and use those data to re-evaluate management plans, ensuring that the best management options are being implemented. Regular updates are presented in public meetings to Dane County staff and the Dane County Lakes and Watershed Commission. Updated plans are posted on the county website.

Village Of Belleville: Lmi-Lake Belle View Restoration Project: The Village of Belleville proposes, as part of a whole-lake restoration project, to separate Lake Belle View from the Sugar River by construction of an earthen berm on the western side of the lake. This separation berm will result in a vast reduction in the amount of water from the Sugar River in the lake's water budget, and therefore will result in water quality and habitat improvements from reduction in nutrients and carp. The deliverable from this project will be a final report summarizing the project, with photos. The final report will be submitted to the department and placed in the local public library.

Village Of Belleville: Res-Lake Belle View Associated Wetland Habitat Restoration: The Village of Belleville will conduct native habitat restoration activities in and around the restored Lake Belle View as a follow-up to the large lake restoration project. In order to protect the active eagles\2019 nest in the area, no work may be conducted within 330 feet of the nest from mid-January to August 1st. People should only enter that area for recreation, work or habitat evaluation between August 1 and mid-January. Weedy areas of new ground created by the lake restoration will be burned, chemically treated, or mowed, and native plants and trees planted to restore shoreline and upland savanna. Tree species may include a small number of upland species in accordance with a DNR forestry recommendation. An aerator will be installed in the lake to suppress common carp that are harming water quality and preventing establishment of native aquatic plants. Specific data that will be collected, and grant deliverables are detailed in the application. Annual monitoring summaries will be submitted to DNR and USACOE. Other project updates will be shared at the local Lakefest, and maintained at the Village Hall for public access.

This is a real-time, three-dimensional, operational model that can provide information to lake managers to assess water level orders in conjunction with dam operations on the Yahara system, predict flood heights under various scenarios which may assist planning efforts, and identify constrictions that need to be removed to reduce flooding. The model can help define floodplain zones for improved planning, among other benefits. Biological, chemical, TSI and watershed data will be collected over two years to enhance the management of the project. A comprehensive lake management plan will be developed, including identifying long-range goals, lake use controls, and establishing a network of volunteers who will assist with monitoring. Study results will be published in local newspapers, shared in public meetings, and results in a final report to be shared with the project partners, including Dane County Dept. of Land and Water Resources, Dane County Lakes and Watershed Commission, USRWA, USFWS, WWA, and NRCS.

City Of Madison: Infos Model For Yahara Lakes: "The City of Madison proposes to develop the first phase of an evaluation and prediction model for the upper half of the Yahara Watershed, called Integrated Nowcast and Forecast Operation System (INFOS). The deliverable will consist of a final report in hard copy and electronic copy describing the web browser interface, and give the final site address of the online model.
