City Of Middleton: Lmi-Pheasant Branch Watershed - In Lake Mendota Priority Watersh: The City of Middleton will contract with the U.S. Geological Survey to monitor and model the surface and groundwater flow within a portion of the Pheasant Branch watershed to locate effective combination of storm water treatment and control sites within the North Fork to mitigate the impacts of urbanization on the quality and quantity of water reaching Lake Mendota. Activities of the project include developing a surface and groundwater model based on existing data, collecting various field data for model inputs (including monitoring precipitation and flow discharge) refine the model and calibrate it to field measurements, calculate present and future pollution loads, and conduct analyses to accomplish the project objectives. Dane County Parks: Aulik Acquisition-Patrick Marsh: Dane County will acquire acreage within Patrick Marsh, a DNR and Dane County project area that is identified in both the Land Legacy Report and the Dane County Parks and Open Space Plan. The Aulik property is approximately 11.6 acres along the southern shore of Patrick Marsh. The acquisition of this property will protect and enhance this natural resource site.

Village Of Mazomanie: Lmi-Lake Marion Family Recreational Fishery: The Village of Mazomanie will complete a large, multi-faceted lake restoration project on Lake Marion by installing an access sign at the boat landing, installing an aeration system, stocking fish, placing habitat structures on the bed, and reconfiguring and restoring large lengths of shoreline consistent with department recommendations. The boat landing access sign will explicitly reflect the Village ordinance allowing non-motorized boat use of the lake. Current steep shorelines will be graded to provide a healthy diversity of habitat, dead trees will be introduced and anchored to shore, and trees, shrubs and understory natives will be planted. Water quality will be monitored to track lake improvements. Project updates will be shared via social media, press releases, public meetings, and community volunteer workdays and celebration. City Of Monona: Storm Water Treatment Devices: This grant provides funding and authorizes cost-share reimbursement by the department for the above-named project as described in the grant application submitted for calendar year 2015 for the eligible storm water construction activities listed in the application to address nonpoint sources of pollution. The cost-share reimbursement rate will be up to 18% of the actual eligible project costs, to the maximum amount contained in Part 2.

Blue Mounds Project, Inc.: Military Ridge Headwaters Protection: This project seeks a river planning grant to support this community based conservation effort which will increase community awareness of river protection issues and maximize landowner participation in conservation programs, ultimately protecting and improving streams, grassland bird habitats and the ecosystem of the Military Ridge region.

Green-Rock Audubon Society: Kittleson Creek Tributary Headwaters Protection: The Green-Rock Audubon Society will initiate a public awareness campaign and fund raising events to begin the process of acquiring land that will protect the two large flowing springs that form a headwater tributary to Kittleson Creek.

Southwest Badger R C & D: Military Ridge Prairie Heritage Area Riparian Mgmt: The project will take place in the Military Ridge Prairie Heritage Area. The diverse partnership of conservation organizations are protecting and restoring a patchwork of prairie stream corridors along the Dane and Iowa County border. Work funded by the grant will focus on stream corridor management on Gordon Creek, including landowner contact, planning assistance, and procuring funding.

Trout Unlimited-Southern Wisconsin Chapter: Gordon Creek Restoration Project: Southern Wisconsin Chapter of Trout Unlimited will conduct a restoration project on Gordon Creek, a Class II Trout stream and an Exceptional Water Resource in Iowa County. This stream habitat restoration project presents opportunities for a diverse and dynamic protection and management program. Specific objectives & deliverables include: 1) installation of integrated stream bank stabilization, shaping back steep banks to reduce erosion; 2) utilizing & installing habitat techniques for native fish, non-game species, reptiles, amphibians, and plant communities; 3) the re-creation of overhead cover in the stream with structures that scour holes and add sinuosity to the stream; 4) assessment of the impact of the stream and floodplain improvement actions on water quality and wildlife; 5) regular communication about project implementation/progress through various venues; and 6) explore possibly of filming a documentary.
