Lake Redstone Protection District: Apm Plan & Ais Education: The Lake Redstone Protection District will develop an aquatic plant management (APM) plan for Lake Redstone using DNR approved methods. Survey results from 2012 found 8 native species which need to be protected, and several invasive species, one of which has reached nuisance levels, and needs to be managed. Information about strategies to accomplish plant management goals will be shared via public meetings, and the plan will incorporate informed public input that results. In addition, a multi-faceted AIS education project will be carried out, with volunteers conducting at least 200 hours of Clean Boats Clean Waters inspections at boat landings. Resulting data will be entered into the DNR database. Volunteers will monitor the lake for exotic species, map curlyleaf pondweed beds in early spring, and the District will sponsor a public education event to share information about topics such as AIS, lakeshore restoration, and water quality. Results of the APM plan and AIS Education project will be presented to the community at a public meeting and to DNR via a final report.

Lake Redstone Protection District: Lake Redstone 2 Yr Aquatic Plant Managment Implementation: The Lake Redstone P&R District is sponsoring a project to carry out management activities that support goals of the lake\2019s 2015 Aquatic Plant Management plan, which is focused on control of Eurasian watermilfoil, and promotion of healthy, native aquatic plants.

Project final deliverables include: EWM management and monitoring documents as described in the grant application, raw data and maps of CLP and other invasive species of interest, Clean Boats Clean Waters (CBCW) education data entered into swims database, documentation about manual plant removal training, a 2017 lake fair and a shoreland improvement workshop, and a shoreland improvement brochure of local examples.

Specific project activities include: Management of EWM and corresponding monitoring of plant community in treatment areas, coordination of a District CBCW education program, District will put on a AIS Identification and Physical Removal Workshop in June of each year, search for and document CLP and other invasive species, put on a lake fair in 2017, organize a shoreline improvement workshop and create a brochure featuring local examples of best management practices.

Vernon County: Lco-Shoreland Ordinance Rev.: Vernon County proposes to amend or create a shoreland zoning ordinance that complies with the requirements of NR 115, Wisconsin Administrative Code (as revised effective February 1, 2010) and retain existing regulations that exceed the water resource protections of NR 115 or are specific or unique to local needs.

Project deliverables include: 1. Copies of any fact sheets or handouts created for public hearings. 2. A summary of the comments received at public hearings. 3. A certified copy of the County Board-approved updated shoreland ordinance or ordinance language (if integrated into other codes). 4. Any GIS maps of the shoreland zone or shoreland condition surveys related to the project.

Best practices, including fish sticks, 350 sq. ft. native plantings, diversions, rock infiltration, and/or rain gardens, will be designed and installed according to program fact sheets, technical guidance and the grant application.
All funded best practices require contracts that must remain in place for 10 years and include the minimum operation and maintenance requirements described in the special conditions at the end of this agreement. If the landowner is the grant sponsor this Lake Protection Grant Agreement serves as the contract. If the best practice(s) will be implemented on land other than the sponsor\2019s, a contract between the sponsor and landowner describing the 10-year contract period, minimum operation and maintenance details, and data to be collected is required. The Department may perform site inspections and/or monitoring to ensure project success.
Deliverables include: a project summary including data requirements, pre/post photographs, and confirmation of completed design work and landowner contracts. A Healthy Lakes & Rivers Example Report is available to assist you.
Special conditions: Project management and technical assistance cash costs cannot exceed 10% of the state share of the grant award; this does not include implementation labor. Water regulation and/or county zoning permits must be issued before construction. The Healthy Lakes & Rivers logo should be used for promotion and publicity and DNR recognized as a funding source.
The grantee may request a one-time cost amendment and a one-time time extension. The grantee must notify the department if they wish to add or subtract practices to the scope of this grant agreement.

Friends Of Devil'S Lake State Park: Res-Of Devil'S Lake By Bottom Water Withdrawl: Friends of Devil's Lake State Park, Inc. will construct and begin operating a siphon pipe system for the purpose of withdrawing P-rich bottom water from Devil's Lake over approximately a 15-year period.

Friends Of Devil'S Lake State Park: Lmi-Devil'S Lake Bottom Withdrawal Pipe Alterations: The Friends of Devil's Lake State Park propose this project to reconstruct the siphon pipe system at Devil's Lake State Park, Sauk County, by lowering the portion of the siphon that is above the ordinary high water mark (OHWM) lake level so that the pipe will flow as a gravity feed flow system whenever the lake level is above the OHWM. This entails digging up about 900' of the pipe, and lowering the highest point. An additional butterfly flow valve will be installed to provide control of the pipe for safety and operational purposes. Deliverables of this project will be a brief final report documenting that the project was completed, including photos of the project during construction.

Sauk County: Hlr - Sauk County Healthy Lakes & Rivers 2024: Partnering with property owners, Sauk County is sponsoring a grant to implement best practices from Wisconsin\2019s 2019 Healthy Lakes & Rivers Action Plan. Best practices, including fish sticks, 350 sq. ft. native plantings, diversions, rock infiltration, and/or rain gardens, will be designed and installed according to program fact sheets, technical guidance and the grant application.
All funded best practices require contracts that must remain in place for 10 years and include the minimum operation and maintenance requirements described in the special conditions at the end of this agreement. If the landowner is the grant sponsor this Lake Protection Grant Agreement serves as the contract. If the best practice(s) will be implemented on land other than the sponsor\2019s, a contract between the sponsor and landowner describing the 10-year contract period, minimum operation and maintenance details, and data to be collected is required. The Department may perform site inspections and/or monitoring to ensure project success.
Deliverables include: a project summary including data requirements, pre/post photographs, and confirmation of completed design work and landowner contracts. A Healthy Lakes & Rivers Example Report is available to assist you.
Special conditions: Project management and technical assistance cash costs cannot exceed 10% of the state share of the grant award; this does not include implementation labor. Water regulation and/or county zoning permits must be issued before construction. Projects required for regulatory compliance purposes, including shoreland mitigation projects, are not eligible for reimbursement. The Healthy Lakes & Rivers logo should be used for promotion and publicity and DNR recognized as a funding source.
The grantee may request a one-time cost amendment and a one-time time extension. The grantee must notify the department if they wish to add or subtract practices to the scope of this grant agreement.

Lake Redstone P & R District: Lake Redstone Watershed Land Use Inventory: The Lake Redstone Protection and Rehabilitation District proposes to update the Lake Redstone watershed inventory to identify the major sources of sediment and phosphorus loading and recommend management strategies. Project activities under this grant agreement include identifying field inventory rating criteria and conducting an inventory. The sponsor will prepare a final report of the project results and will provide the Department of Natural Resources with a paper copy and an electronic copy of the final report. The sponsor will disseminate information to the public by newsletter, public meeting, summary report mailing, and local newspaper article. end.

Limnological Institute: Apm Monitoring-Dutch Hollow Lake: The Limnological Institue will have aquatic plants surveyed and an APM plan will be written.

Limnological Institute: Water Quality Monitoring - Dutch Hollow Lake: The Limnological Institute will provide baseline water quality and plankton data will be collected and analyzed, watershed boundary will be updated, and loadings will be estimated using the WILMS model.

Monitoring will include water quality, fisheries, plants, potential sensitive areas, watershed land uses, predicted phosphorus loading rates (calculated), and wildlife observations. The final report summarizing management recommendations will be published in local papers, and distributed to project partners, including the county LWCD, county parks department, Town of LaValle, DNR, USFWS, WWA and NRCS.

Reduce the severity and frequency of algae blooms in Lake Redstone. Reduce or eliminate the need to use copper sulfate to control these algae blooms. The grantee will disseminate information to the public by newsletter mailings, fact sheet distributions, public neetings, summary report mailings, and a comprehensive management plan. Project results will be reposited at the Lake Redstone Protection District and the LaValle Town Hall.

Lake Redstone Protection District: Lake Redstone Water Quality Monitoring And Flow Data Collect: 1) Collect flow information and water quality samples in the lake.
2) Prepare a final report which will include task 1 listed above.
3) The grantee will dissminate information to the public by newsletter, public meetings, summary report mailings, and local newspaper articles.

The grantee will provide the Department of Natural Resources with a paper copy and an electronic copy of the final report.

Project activities under this grant agreement include 1) inventory and classification of land uses, 2) review of county and state historical records, 3) evaluation and recommendation of management strategies and associated cost estimates, and 4) a final report. The sponsor will disseminate information to the public by newsletter, public meeting, summary report mailing, local and newspaper article. The sponsor will also provide the Department of Natural Resources with a paper copy and an electronic copy of the final report. end.

Lake Redstone P & R District: Lake Redstone Bottom Withdrawal: This project will provide further information to evaluate the potential for bottom withdrawal for reducing internal phosphorus loading. The final report will summarize lake monitoring results and stream monitoring results. It will assess whether bottom withdrawal will reduce in-lake phosphorus loading and benefit lake quality. A WDNR environmental engineer will use stream waste assimilation models to determine acceptable downstream organic loading rates. Both test withdrawal and projected discharge rates will provide further information towards the goal of determining whether the maximum acceptable discharge rates will significantly benefit the lake water quality based on lake response modeling.

Lake Redstone P & R District: Lake Redstone Gis Based Sediment Delivery Model: The Lake Redstone Protection and Rehabilitation District (LRPRD) study will evaluate sediment delivery and evaluate critical sites. This project compliments a series of LRPRD's current efforts within the watershed.

Lake Redstone Protection District: Lake Redstone Nutrient Loading Study - Part 2: Lab analysis of water samples collected in phase 1, modeling of results, and final report including recommendations for future protection and enhancement activities.

4/20/07: Scope Change request approved:This grant is for the SLOH lab expenses and software modeling for Lake Redstone in Sauk County. Flow and phosphorus data was collected in 2006. Unfortunately there were equipment malfunctions causing 25% of the data to be lost. The contract has been renegotiated with the contractor to repeat the data collection in 2007 with little or no increase in cost. However, SLOH costs will be repeated as the new samples will be analyzed. SLOH spreadsheets added to the postage show this estimated cost to be $4,438.

A change in scope is being requested to remove $4,438 from the estimated $10,000 for the software modeling of the lake and increase the SLOH dollar amount by $4,438

Lake Redstone Protection District: Lake Redstone Nutrient Loading Study-Part 1: Prep for study phase 2, grant would fund cleaning out of sampling manholes and install samplers in the two stream locations. Data from these samplers would be compiled and shared.

Lake Redstone Protection District: Lk Redstone 9-Key Element Planning 3-Phase Project - Phase 1: Lake Redstone Protection District will embark upon a 9-Key-Element (9KE) Plan for Lake Redstone. This will be phase 1 of a 3-phase project. This project has the following elements: a) APM management support for EWM control in specific bays, b) a shoreland habitat survey to prioritize properties for Healthy Lakes; c) monitor water quality; d) complete a trend analysis of lake data 1998 to 2017; complete the 9KE plan, and provide an educational event.

Project final deliverables include: EWM management report with PI data, treatment summary and data analyses; maps, data sheets, photos and description of shoreline assessment results; water quality data collected and analyzed; a report of long-term trend analysis of past water quality; and a complete and final 9KE plan. All raw data collected must be in SWIMs or proper format. Status and final reports are required with financial reimbursement requests.

Specific project activities include: Support for EWM monitoring, planning and management in 2018; Following DNR shoreline survey protocol, the lake shoreline will be monitored to assess priority for Healthy Lakes projects; surface water and water column sampling; a trend analysis will be done on historical lake data; a 9KE plan will be written (in concert with work done under Phase 2 and Phase 3 grants); at least one educational event will be held.

Project final deliverables include: Water samples will yield data in SWIMs database; tributary loading values will be produced and reported.

Specific project activities include: Water sampling in tributaries to Lake Redstone, and calculating tributary loading values for nutrients and flow.

Lake Redstone Protection District: Lk Redstone 9-Key Element Planning 3-Phase Project - Phase 3: Lake Redstone Protection District is sponsoring a project to complete the 3rd of 3 phases planning for the lake focusing on Eurasian watermilfoil (EWM) management planning and completion of the 9-key-element plan with the following goals: EWM surveys and planning for 2019 and 2020, shoreline habitat assessment, collect additional water quality data, and complete the 9-key-element plan with county partners, including providing educational opportunities for the lake community and agricultural producers. Project deliverables include all raw data collected including excel plant point intercept data and GIS files; plant monitoring reports for surveyed bays, digitized land use coverage of 300\2019 nearshore area with calculated P loading chart; final 9-key-element plan that includes analysis of water quality with recommendations consistent with the Baraboo River project and Wisconsin River TMDL; materials generated from educational events, lists of participants and assessment of event effectiveness. Specific project conditions: A draft of the final report including appendices, in .pdf format, should be submitted for department comment prior to finalization.

Citizens For Waterfront Revitalization: Baraboo River Strategic Planning: Citizens for Waterfront Revitalization will organize and involve the many groups and state agencies that have been involved with the Baraboo River in order to create a comprehensive plan for the Baraboo Rapids Area of the river. This will enable these groups to put the efforts of their combined memberships into working on common goals in an orderly fashion.

Vernon County Lwcd: Bishops Branch Restoration: Vernon County proposes to restore some 2600 linear feet of Bishops Branch, a tributary to the West Fork of the Kickapoo River, in the Town of Liberty.

Major project elements to include 1) placement of lunker structures, boulders, and rock weirs in the stream, 2) deepening of pools, 3) placement of riprap, and 4) revegitation of the streambank.
