This phase will focus on continued monitoring along with the use of a graduate student to conduct water quality modeling to allow for final development of a TMDL for Park Lake, a 303(d) listed lake. The objectives of this study are to quantify P export from the watershed, and link water quality with nutrient loss from the land. Little Green Lake P & R District: Res-Little Green Lake Destratification Project: The Little Green Lake Protection & Rehabilitation District proposes to install a circulation system consisting of compressors, air delivery lines, filter system, and a housing structure. The circulation system is designed to ensure sufficient oxygen concentrations in the deep-water areas of the lake. Oxygen in deep-water areas of the lake will reduce the release of phosphorous from the lake sediment and decrease the level of lake fertilization. This will result in improved water clarity and algae conditions thereby improving water quality conditions for recreation and aesthetics.

Local resources to be provided include volunteer services during installatiotn, volunteer services regarding project management, and financial contribution from Green Lake County.

The lakes to be inventoried are Big Green, Little Green, Puckaway, Big Twin, Little Twin, Spring (Kingston), Spring (Green Lake), Grand, Heart and Maria.

Major components of this work include:

Columbia County: Park Lake Mgmt. Plan Development: Scope: This grant is to complete a comprehensive lake management plan to help guide management decisions on Park Lake by funding a staff position within Columbia County LWCD. The plan will incorporate past studies, all available data, SH data, focus on control of watershed sources of nutrients and sediment, fisheries management, and improving the health of the lake with high levels of public participation.

Deliverables: See ranking points used to determine eligibility of award. Each ranking point describes a deliverable component of the final Lake Management Plan.

Columbia County: Park Lake Watershed/Fox River Monitoring: Scope: This grant is to refine knowledge of watershed nutrient contributions via the two major branches of the Fox River draining to Park Lake to help complete the concurrent management plan. (An additional grant to continue this work for one more season will be requested). WAV volunteer monitoring of streams will be set up in the watershed, along with collection of baseline data to determine nutrient loading from the sub-basins. Data will be used to write the lake management plan.

Deliverables: The final report for this grant will summarize what was done and contain all raw data collected; the second grant to follow will have a full evaluation of the data. Plans are to arrange media coverage and a pre-project presentation/workshop, write a project summary report, public meeting to share phase 1 summary, show how/where the data are used in developing the management plan, and summarize the setup of the WAV monitoring.

Columbia County: Park Lake Tmdl Phase I Monitoring: Columbia County proposes to collect watershed data in order to develop a TMDL in a future grant. In this phase I grant, they will collect tributary monitoring data for Park Lake twice/month Mar-Nov, and monthly Dec-Feb, plus event samples 5 times/yr. Volunteers will record daily precipitation Apr-Nov at 3 sites. Lake data will be sampled 7 times/yr, plus weekly Secchi depths. Results will be shared via regular public meetings with the Lake District. The final report will be submitted on paper and electronically, including all raw data. Deliverables include all data collected per grant application, (all raw data reported), news releases and meeting presentations; final report hard and electronic copies.

Columbia County: Lake Management Plan Dev- Swan Lake: Columbia County Land & Water Conservation Department will develop a citizen-input based lake management plan for Swan Lake, Columbia County. Data collected includes near-shore fish survey, water chemistry sampling, and a shoreland health inventory. The planning team will compile sport fishery data, water quality data, and other historical information. They will also draft a slow-no-wake emergency ordinance to help protect shorelines during high water events. A sociological survey and numerous public meetings will invite public input, as well as serve as a venue to share results. The final report will be posted on the Columbia County LWCD website.

Park Lane Management District: Park Lane Watershed And Water Quality Assessment Study: Hydrologic budget will be evaluated on watershed delineation on a topographic map; collection of evaporation and precipitation data; computation of lake stage and storage through use of recording guage and bathymetric map. Phosphorus budget will bedeveloped by: collection of approximately 60 samples from Fox River inflow to be analyzed for phosphorus concentration; monitoring of in-lake water-column phosphorus at two sites as described in part II, #2 of project proposal in application; estimationof internal phosphorus loading from bottom sediments; monthly sampling of phosphorus concentration in lake outflow. Quantification of lake water chemistry by periodic sample collection and depth profiles; data collected will be reported to DNR andpublished in USGS annual report. Information will be disseminated to the public through public meetings, newsletter mailings and local media. Project results will be reposited at:

Park Lane Management District: Park Lake Water Quality Assessment: The Park Lake Management District Proposes to develop a hydrologic budget and a phosphorus budget for the Park Lake; describe and quantify the lake's water chemistry; and evaluate the trophic status of the lake.
